About the Faculty

PRESENTATION

Located in the heart of the city of Marseille on the Timone Health campus, the Faculty of Pharmacy is a 30,000m2 high-rise building that houses training and research activities on 12 levels and three wings. It includes not only a university library and a cafeteria, but also original spaces such as "Pharmafac", the virtual pharmacy, which allows the development of approaches based on professional simulation, and teaching rooms adapted to interactive teaching, such as the puzzle classes. The landscape is completed by places for exchange and conviviality that promote good living together, such as "Pharmagora", the "Thierry Bernard" patio with its botanical garden, and the "Relaxation, Sustainability, Sharing" garden.

The existence of these spaces of exchange and conviviality works to improve the living environment and the well-being of all those involved in the faculty, which is essential to optimize the quality of our research and training. Offering all the actors of the faculty the best opportunities for development has been the driving force behind the human dynamics of the institution, because it is together that we build the history of our faculty and our profession.

The Faculty of Pharmacy is one of the components of the health campus, which trains public health actors, experts in medicines and other health products. In a rapidly changing context, both in terms of professions and training, it is fully in line with Aix Marseille University's policy of interdisciplinarity, professionalization and innovation, while developing an institutional culture and an international outlook.

Occupying a unique position at the interface of scientific and medical disciplines, the Faculty of Pharmacy offers a wide range of opportunities in multiple sectors, including pharmacies, industry, health establishments and regulatory agencies, in medical biology, or in higher education and research. Interdisciplinarity and innovative teaching are the strengths of our training, which has been able to anticipate the new missions entrusted to pharmacists in the context of the rapidly changing needs of these different sectors. The professionalization of our studies is based on numerous partnerships with the socio-economic world of pharmacy, all of which provide opportunities to better build the future, as shown by the excellent professional integration rate of our students.

One of the strong points of our faculty is the research developed in the 10 accredited units, which focus on therapeutic innovation and medical diagnosis, in the fields of vascular, infectious diseases, oncology, but also environmental chemistry and pharmaceutical engineering. This very transdisciplinary research constitutes an added value in terms of industrial valorization and to succeed in the challenge of translational research at the patient's bed. The faculty's research units are supported by ambitious academic and industrial programs, and by progressive and efficient technological platforms, while meeting very competitive accreditations.

The international opening is at the heart of our faculty's strategy, to position our students in the industrial field in a technological and scientific influence of global scope, and to develop sustainable partnerships with universities in emerging Asian countries.

The strength of our institution is the 2,550 students, 200 teachers and administrative staff who are very attached to the values of pharmacy, and who put their energy and talent into the excellence of its teaching and research every day, to make our component a place of life and professional fulfilment within AMU.
