A professional training leading to numerous jobs
The pharmaceutical curriculum is a professional, multidisciplinary course at the interface of scientific, pharmaceutical and medical fields.
In order to prepare the pharmacists of tomorrow, pharmacy studies must succeed in the challenge of training highly specialized students in advanced scientific fields, while ensuring a common base of pharmaceutical skills enabling them to understand the entire drug circuit. Pharmacy studies give access to a wide and diversified range of professions.
The Faculty of Pharmacy thus trains :
- pharmacists working in pharmacies in the city
- hospital pharmacists working in public and private health establishments
- biologists who work in medical analysis laboratories in town or in hospitals
- pharmacists working in the pharmaceutical industry in the fields of drugs and medical devices (design, research and development, industrial pharmacotechnics, production, quality, regulatory affairs, wholesaler-distributors, etc.), or in fields such as cosmetics, nutrition, agri-food and the environment
- pharmacists involved in university teaching and research or in public research (INSERM, CNRS)
- pharmacists working in institutions and regulatory bodies (DGOS, ARS, Assurance Maladie, ANSM, scientific police).
- pharmacists working for the fire brigade or the military health service.

Organization of pharmacy studies
Since 2010 and the implementation of the First Common Year of Health Studies (PACES), the Faculty of Pharmacy continues to develop the reform of pharmaceutical studies according to the LMD scheme. This training takes place over 6 to 9 years. The teachings are organized by pedagogical objectives in the form of teaching units (UE) including theoretical, methodological, applied, practical teachings and training courses.
- The 1st cycle, sanctioned by the obtaining of the Diploma of General Training in Pharmaceutical Sciences (DFGSP) is obtained in 3 years.
- The 2nd cycle, sanctioned by the Diploma of Advanced Training in Pharmaceutical Sciences (DFASP) is obtained in 2 years.
The very early appearance of elective courses in the 3rd year allows students to develop their own professional project by customizing their course.
The orientation towards one of the 3 fields (Officine, Industry, Internship) is made at the end of the first semester of the 4th year.
Depending on the field of study, the 3rd cycle can be short (1 year) for the pharmacy and industry fields of study, and it includes the preparation of the doctorate thesis in pharmacy, or long (4 years) for the internship field of study.

At the same time, the Faculty of Pharmacy is developing a number of professional courses, open to students with a scientific background as well as those with a health background, such as masters and doctorate degrees capable of providing dual scientific and pharmaceutical training in the fields of chemistry, the environment, human pathologies and drug sciences, in line with the research activities of the Faculty's teams.

My choice to enter the Industry stream was obvious from the beginning of my studies, as I was heading for a career in research and did not want to work in a hospital. So, I did my 4th year of study in Finland thanks to the erasmus program and it was a revelation. As I am in the Industry stream, I have the possibility to specialize during my 6th year of pharmacy, in the field that is close to my heart: neurosciences, by doing a research master in Helsinki, Finland. The next step is the PhD!
After a common curriculum in the 2nd and 3rd year, I decided to go into the internship program. I prepared for the competitive examination thanks to the courses given by the subject referent professors as well as the tutoring of the intern association (AMIPBM) via the organization of conferences and mock competitions. With a majority of lectures and some practical work in the laboratory, fourth year students still spend most of their time at the faculty. However, there is a compulsory internship in a pharmacy before the beginning of the second semester.
