Inter-CHU training courses
After passing the competitive examination for the internship in Pharmacy, the new intern registers in an interregion (IPR), in a region (new DES in Hospital Pharmacy) or in a subdivision (new DES in Medical Biology). The choice of his hospital of attachment will be determined by his classification.
-
Organization
The DES includes :
- a full-time practical training which is carried out in approved services. The internships (semesters) last six months each and begin in November and May.
- theoretical training provided by the UFR and the CHU, divided into half-days during the week.
The duration, the content of the theoretical training and the nature of the practical training courses of each DES constitute the model. The latter is fixed by order of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. Its respect is compulsory and conditions the obtaining of the DES.
-
Conditions of registration
A successful candidate to the competition of the internship in Pharmacy can be appointed intern only if he has validated the second cycle of pharmaceutical studies. The intern has the choice between different specialties. The number of positions offered in these specialties is set by order each year by the Ministry of Solidarity and Health.
-
Validation
For the different DES - former regimes:
Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Innovation and Research, and Medical Biology, the final validation is done by the director of the UFR of affiliation, for the interns having :
- completed the total duration of the internship
- satisfied the control of theoretical knowledge
- completed and validated the practical training in accordance with the model
- defended, from the fifth semester of internship, a thesis that can be used as a thesis.
For the new DES in Medical Biology
That is to say for the interns who started in November 2017, the DES is definitively validated by the director of the UFR of affiliation for the interns who have :
- validated the whole of the training course and the thesis
- validated all the internships provided for in the curriculum of the diploma applied for
- defended a thesis before entering the consolidation phase of the DES
- validated the three phases of training
- validated their DES thesis before the end of the consolidation phase.
For the new DES of Hospital Pharmacy
Either the interns entering in November 2019, the DES is definitively validated by the director of the UFR of affiliation for the interns having :
- validated all 4 compulsory teaching units
- validated the 3 compulsory internships of the foundation phase
- defended a thesis before entering the consolidation phase of the DES
- validated the three training phases
- validated their DES thesis before the end of the consolidation phase

The DES in Medical Biology is the only diploma that allows a pharmacy student to work as a biologist. The DES is divided into two stages: level 1 (4 semesters) allowing the intern to acquire the basics of biology, and level 2 (4 semesters), during which the intern will have to choose between polyvalent and specialized training.
Generating more than 70% of medical diagnoses, medical biology is an exciting speciality, with multiple outlets (liberal careers, hospital-university careers), with vast prospects in the field of research.

The DES in Pharmacy allows the intern to specialize in hospital pharmacy ensuring him to acquire a multidisciplinary technical expertise around the drug and other health products in a concern of security and optimization of costs. This DES, which is intended to become a qualifying course, will be the natural gateway to careers as hospital practitioners or university hospitals. At the same time, the industrial and biomedical pharmacy option leads to careers in industry.

The DES IPR is a course dedicated to research training. It is, in a way, a 4-year scholarship to do a Master 2 research in the first year, followed by a university doctoral thesis in the following 3 years. The intern must take a pro-active approach (if possible before taking up his post, so as not to lose time at the beginning of his course) to find a host laboratory in the discipline of his choice in which he will carry out his 4 years of internship.

The DESC in Radiopharmacy and Radiobiology is open to students who are preparing the DES in Hospital Pharmacy - Practice and Research option.
It is a validating diploma that allows the candidate to obtain the rank of Radiopharmacist, the only person authorized to supervise the preparation of diagnostic and/or therapeutic radiopharmaceutical drugs. This is an ancillary activity of the pharmacy for internal use in health establishments, located within the Nuclear Medicine departments. This training consists of theoretical training divided into 4 units of value, UV1 and 2 acquired during the internship and UV 3 and 4 during the post internship year, and practical training carried out in approved radiopharmacy departments for 2 semesters during the internship and one year afterwards.
Admission requirements, program, examination control, informationPlease note! The intern must register with both the Institut National des Sciences et Techniques Nucléaires and the UFR to which he/she belongs.
